Two-semi crash on Interstate 25 near Frederick clears after early morning closure

A rear-end collision between two semi-trucks temporarily closed southbound Interstate 25 near milepost 236, west of Frederick, in Weld County on May 27, 2026, at approximately 12:59 a.m.

Initial reports indicate one semi was stopped in the right lane for an unknown reason when a second southbound semi struck it from behind. The driver of the stopped semi, a 29-year-old male from Salem, Oregon, was uninjured. The driver of the second semi, a 48-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The road reopened at 6:02 a.m.

The crash is under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol under case number 3A260931. Witnesses or anyone with information who has not yet spoken to investigators is asked to contact Colorado State Patrol Dispatch at (303) 239-4501 and reference that case number.
