The Kiowa County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a two vehicle accident that resulted in one injured person.
Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at approximately 12:51 p.m., deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of 15th Street and Rittgers Street in the Eads. A 1998 Ford F-150 was facing southbound on Rittgers Street stopped at the intersection of 15th Street. The 1998 Ford proceeded from the stop sign crossing 15th Street and struck the trailer of a 2006 Kenworth Tractor Truck. The 1998 Ford came to rest in the center turn lane of 15th Street facing south-southeast. The 1998 Ford received substantial damage to the passenger front quarter of the vehicle. The driver of the 1998 Ford was transported to the Weisbard Memorial Hospital for injuries. The trailer of the Kenworth, loaded with grain, was punctured allowing grain to spill on the roadway. The driver of the Kenworth was unharmed.
Alcohol or drug use are not believed to be factors in the crash. However Careless Driving was the likely cause of this accident.
