NRCS PROGRAM DEADLINES

The deadline to apply for the 2017 Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) is Feb. 3, 2017.  Through CSP, agricultural producers earn payments for actively managing, maintaining, and expanding conservation activities.  This is a competitive nation-wide program and the screening and ranking process for this program has been revised this year.  Anyone interested in additional information regarding the updated CSP can visit the new CSP portal at http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/csp or can visit their local NRCS Office.

Producers in Colorado who are interested in implementing conservation practices to improve natural resources on their private agricultural land have until Friday, February 17, 2017, to submit applications for FY 2017 funding through the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s (NRCS) Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).  EQIP is a voluntary incentives program that provides financial assistance for conservation system such as fencing and water supply development for improved grazing management.

LDP RATES

The LDP rate for the past week has been zero.  The Kansas City and Gulf market prices have been up – therefore the posted county price will reflect the rise in markets.

The website to check daily LDP rates is as follows:

LOCK –IN RATE FOR MARKETING ASSISTANCE LOANS

It is encouraged for producers who have 2016 Marketing Assistance Loans to be aware of the Posted County Price (PCP) and how it can benefit producers with MAL’s or those wanting to apply for a loan.

Producers with commodity loans or who are considering applying for a commodity loan need to be aware of the options to repay the loan.  These include; repaying at the lessor of principal plus interest or the Posted County Price.   When repaying at the Posted County Price, a Commodity Certificate Exchange can be utilized to keep the market gain from applying to the $125,000 payment limitation.
