GOOD – BYE TO LACY

NRCS employee, Lacy VanCampen who has been on maternity leave after the birth of their daughter

Tess; submitted her resignation last week.  We will miss Lacy as she helped FSA with numerous areas for CRP.  She was our report guru!  We wish her and her family all the best.

PRIMARY NESTING SEASON

The dates of primary nesting season (PNS) are fast approaching; March 15th – July 15th each year is the PNS.  During this time there can be no activity of any kind; whether it is establishing permanent cover or performing a mid-contract maintenance.  Producers that do violate the PNS dates can be determined out of compliance; contracts terminated and refund of payments required.

MID CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

Producers with CRP contracts that are ending year 6 of the contract and have not performed the required Mid Contract Management (MCM); especially the recommendation of inter-seeding must have the practice completed by March 15th.  The contracts in question were Signup #39 contracts which were re-enrolled in summer of 2010.   The contact producer on the CRP contract received a letter from FSA and NRCS stating the recommended MCM that needs to be performed before the end of year 6 of the contract.  MCM activities of grazing and light disking can be completed after July 15th and before September 30th of 2016; however the inter-seeding must be completed in accordance with NRCS grass seed planting dates; which is March 15th.   If you have any questions concerning MCM activities please contact either the NRCS or FSA office.  It is ultimately the CRP producer’s responsibility to maintain compliance with the contract(s).
