SPRING ACREAGE REORTING DEADLINE – July 15
Many operators received an email on Tuesday, June 25 regarding acreage reporting deadline of July 15. In the email it was stated that the office will be short staffed the first week of July and given options regarding acreage reporting.
Those options are -
IF YOU HAVE YOUR MAPS - please get them completed and returned to the office ASAP. The completed maps can be dropped off at the office and we’ll let you know when the acreage reports are ready for signature.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR MAPS - contact the office as they can be emailed to you or can be picked up.
If you DID NOT plant any spring seeded crops - and the open acres will be certified as summer fallow, notify the office and the certifications can be emailed for signature.
If you have reported your planted acres to your crop insurance agent, please contact your agent and have them forward their acreage report to the office.
If you have failed wheat that has been released by crop insurance, contact your agent to have the appraisal forwarded to the office.
Do not wait to complete the required acreage reporting, especially with wheat harvest fast approaching.
CRP CONTRACT COMPLIANCE
Once CRP cover is considered established, it is the responsibility of the CRP contract participants to maintain the permanent cover. Examples of non-compliance include control of the following.
- other undesirable weeds, plants, insects, or pests, as determined by COC, are not controlled on the designated acreage.
Prairie dogs are considered a ‘pest’ and must be controlled outside the primary nesting season.
If the FSA County Committee determines that the producer has not made a good faith effort in controlling the pests, the contract can be terminated with refunds required.
