Kiowa County Hospital District Meeting Minutes - April 24, 2018

The Kiowa County Hospital District and County Board met in regular session on April 24, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bransgrove Building Meeting Room. 

District Board members present were: Mary Eikner, Sylvia Shields, Cathryn Anderson, Priscilla Waggoner, and Robert Woods. 

County Board members present were: Lori Shalberg, John Negley, and Dennis Pearson. 

Absent-Craig Kerfoot (called) and Kim Harris (called). 

Others present: Shannon Dixon, Char Korrell, Colette Martin, Dawn Back, Cindy McLoud, and Beth Spady.

I would like to wish a very Happy Father's Day to all the dads! Guess everyone was out and about as I didn't find very many at home today.

Garold Deines and his son Jesse celebrated Father's Day fishing at Nee Noshoe. Hope you had good luck.

Weekend before last, around 40 family members attended the Woelk Reunion in Eads.

My sis Jerene DeBono and I went to Garden City last Thursday to do some shopping.

Commissioner of Agriculture Schedules Public Hearing on Colorado Millet Marketing Order

Colorado Agriculture Commissioner Don Brown has scheduled a public hearing on June 22 in Akron to hear and record testimony on the need to conduct a referendum of millet producers to determine whether they support a millet marketing order.  The hearing was requested by the High Plains Millet Association (HPMA), who supports a producer referendum to establish a millet marketing order to self-fund vital education, research and marketing programs.

  • State and local health department laboratories have started testing dead birds, mosquitoes and horses for West Nile Virus.
  • Severe hail cut two wide swaths through the county. The hardest hit area is from north of Hwy 96 between Sheridan Lake and Towner and east of Hwy 385 south to the Prowers County line. The hailed covers approximately 220 square miles (140,000 acres).
