Ag stats: Kansas crop progress and condition report – week ending April 24, 2022

For the week ending April 24th, 2022, there were 5.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 37 percent very short, 32 percent short, 30 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 34 percent very short, 34 percent short, 31 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. 

Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 13 percent very poor, 23 percent poor, 38 percent fair, 23 percent good, and 3 percent excellent. Winter wheat jointed was 49 percent, behind 65 percent last year and 60 percent for the five-year average. 

Corn planted was 21 percent, near 19 percent last year, and equal to average. Emerged was 1 percent, near 5 percent last year and 3 percent average. 

Soybeans planted was 3 percent, near 2 percent last year and 1 percent average. 

Sorghum planted was 1 percent. 

Cotton planted was 1 percent.
