Ag stats: Kansas crop progress and condition report – week ending June 12, 2022
For the week ending June 12, 2022, there were 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 13% very short, 16% short, 56% adequate, and 15% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 18% very short, 20% short, 53% adequate, and 9% surplus.
Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 17% very poor, 24% poor, 33% fair, 24% good, and 2% excellent. Winter wheat coloring was 81%, ahead of 75% last year, and near 78% for the five-year average. Mature was 31%, ahead of 16% last year and 25% average. Harvested was 2%, near 4% average.
Corn condition rated 2% very poor, 7% poor, 33% fair, 48% good, and 10% excellent. Corn planted was 96%, near 95% last year, and equal to average. Emerged was 83%, near 84% last year, and behind 88% average.
Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 6% poor, 31% fair, 54% good, and 8% excellent. Soybeans planted was 68%, behind 80% last year and 79% average. Emerged was 55%, behind 61% both last year and average.
Sorghum condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 39% fair, 52% good, and 3% excellent. Sorghum planted was 54%, near 56% last year and 58% average.
Cotton condition rated 7% very poor, 11% poor, 51% fair, 30% good, and 1% excellent. Cotton planted was 96%, near 95% last year, and ahead of 90% average. Squaring was 9%, near 10% last year, but ahead of 3% average.
Sunflowers planted was 40%, behind 54% last year and 52% average.
Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 11% very poor, 16% poor, 32% fair, 36% good, and 5% excellent.
