Ag stats: November 2022 mountain states chickens and eggs highlights
COLORADO
Colorado egg production during November 2022 was 49.1 million eggs, up 19 percent from October 2022 but down 59 percent from November 2021 production, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. The average number of layers on hand in November 2022 was 2.14 million, up 26 percent from November 2022 but down 57 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,299 eggs, down 6 percent from last year.
UTAH
Utah egg production during November 2022 was 145.3 million eggs, up 1 percent from October 2022 but down 5 percent from November 2021 production, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. The average number of layers on hand during November 2022 was 5.57 million, up 1 percent from October 2022 but down 9 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,608 eggs, up 5 percent from last year.
UNITED STATES
United States egg production totaled 8.87 billion during November 2022, down 5 percent from last year. Production included 7.62 billion table eggs, and 1.25 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.16 billion were broiler-type and 92.1 million were egg-type. The average number of layers during November 2022 totaled 375 million, down 4 percent from last year. November egg production per 100 layers was 2,369 eggs, down slightly from November 2021.
Total layers in the United States on December 1, 2022 totaled 374 million, down 5 percent from last year. The 374 million layers consisted of 308 million layers producing table or market type eggs, 62.0 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs, and 3.74 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. Rate of lay per day on December 1, 2022, averaged 79.0 eggs per 100 layers, down 1 percent from December 1, 2021.
Egg-type chicks hatched during November 2022 totaled 46.5 million, up 2 percent from November 2021. Eggs in incubators totaled 47.7 million on December 1, 2022, down 1 percent from a year ago.
Domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 200 thousand during November 2022, down 2 percent from November 2021.
Broiler-type chicks hatched during November 2022 totaled 810 million, up 1 percent from November 2021. Eggs in incubators totaled 720 million on December 1, 2022, down 1 percent from a year ago.
Leading breeders placed 7.68 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during
November 2022, down 4 percent from November 2021.
