Ag stats: September 2019 chickens and eggs report
COLORADO
Colorado egg production during September 2019 was 127.5 million eggs, up 2 percent from August 2019 and up 3 percent from September 2018 production, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service. The average number of layers on hand in September 2019 was 5.0 million, up 2 percent from August 2019 and up 3 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,544 eggs, up less than one-half percent from last year.
UTAH
Utah egg production during August 2019 was 115.7 million eggs, down 3 percent from August 2019 but up 1 percent from September 2018 production. The average number of layers on hand during August 2019 was 4.5 million, down less than one-half percent from August 2019 and down 2 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,584 eggs, up 3 percent from last year.
UNITED STATES
United States egg production totaled 9.19 billion during September 2019, up 2 percent from last year. Production included 8.04 billion table eggs, and 1.15 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.07 billion were broiler-type and 81.7 million were eggtype. The average number of layers during September 2019 totaled 394 million, up 1 percent from last year. September egg production per 100 layers was 2,332 eggs, up 1 percent from September 2018.
Total layers in the United States on October 1, 2019 totaled 395 million, up 1 percent from last year. The 395 million layers consisted of 333 million layers producing table or market type eggs, 58.2 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs, and 3.46 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. Rate of lay per day on October 1, 2019, averaged 77.6 eggs per 100 layers, up 1 percent from October 1, 2018.
Egg-type chicks hatched during September 2019 totaled 50.1 million, up 1 percent from September 2018. Eggs in incubators totaled 48.3 million on October 1, 2019, down 6 percent from a year ago.
Domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 286 thousand during September 2019, up 91 percent from September 2018.
Broiler-type chicks hatched during September 2019 totaled 814 million, up 3 percent from September 2018. Eggs in incubators totaled 674 million on October 1, 2019, up 4 percent from a year ago.
Leading breeders placed 8.62 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during September 2019, up 4 percent from September 2018.
