The Colorado State Patrol is investing a fatal crash which occurred just after midnight Sunday in El Paso County near Colorado Springs.

According to CSP Trooper Joshua Yoder, a 23-year-old man was driving a 2015 Chrysler 300 north in the southbound lanes on Interstate 25 near the Colorado Springs city limits. The vehicle collided head-on with a 2020 Hyundai Kona driven by a 39-year-old woman.

The woman was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The man sustained serious injuries. His current condition was not available. Neither person has been identified.

Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor to the crash.
