Cheyenne County deputies arrested a man this week after responding to a reported burglary in progress at a home in Cheyenne Wells, authorities said.

Deputies were dispatched to the home in the early morning hours of February 4 and were able to quickly locate the suspect inside the home using information provided by the property owner, including live security camera footage, according to the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office.

The male suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to jail. No injuries were reported.

Sheriff’s officials credited the property owner’s prompt reporting and use of security cameras with helping deputies respond quickly and stop the crime before further damage or loss occurred.

The sheriff’s office encouraged residents who have security cameras to actively use them, noting they remain an effective tool for both crime prevention and criminal investigations.

Authorities reminded the public that all suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The information was released by the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office through its official Facebook page.
