Arrest Made in Crowley County Missing Person Case

Wednesday (April 13, 2016) the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in conjunction with the Crowley and Otero County Sheriffs' Offices, served a warrant in Swink in connection with a missing person case from 2010.

CBI agents and crime scene responders went to a home in the 400 block of Powars Ave. in Swink related to a missing person case involving Richard Kirk, 67, out of Crowley County. Kirk was reported missing by his family in January of 2010. CBI agents obtained the warrant based on new investigative information in Kirk’s case that led to the search of the residence.

Residents of the home were interviewed by CBI agents Wednesday evening.  David Jacob Kirk, 43, was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder. David Kirk is the nephew of Richard Kirk. Kirk is being held at the Otero County Jail.

Additional details about the case are not being released due to the ongoing investigation.

The CBI was requested to lead the investigation by the Crowley County Sheriff’s Office.
