The City of Lamar has launched the WIN LOCAL campaign, a community-focused initiative aimed at fostering local engagement, economic support, and civic pride throughout Lamar and Southeast Colorado. Introduced by Mayor Kirk Crespin, the campaign seeks to create a culture centered on positive experiences, hospitality, and hometown service.

Mayor Crespin emphasized that WIN LOCAL is about more than just asking consumers to shop locally. “In today’s economy, our local businesses are competing in a worldwide marketplace every single day,” he said. “We must work together as businesses, residents, and community ambassadors to create experiences, relationships, and a culture that encourages people to choose Lamar first.”

The campaign includes WIN LOCAL Business Recognition Decals, WIN LOCAL Ambassador Recognition Decals, community outreach, promotional materials, public engagement campaigns, social media awareness efforts, and community participation opportunities. Businesses recognized as “Win Local Businesses” will demonstrate dependable service, hospitality, honesty, local knowledge, and a commitment to strengthening Lamar’s economy.

“Win Local Ambassadors” will support local businesses, welcome visitors, share positive experiences, and encourage others to become involved in the community. Mayor Crespin noted that the campaign is about creating a stronger overall community culture where residents and businesses work together to help Lamar compete, grow, and succeed.

The city hopes the initiative will foster long-term community engagement while helping local businesses better compete against online retailers and out-of-town commerce by focusing on customer relationships, trust, hospitality, and unique local experiences. Additional information about participation opportunities and future recognition programs will be released in the coming weeks.

“When our businesses Win Local, our entire community Wins with them,” Mayor Crespin said. “This campaign is about celebrating what makes Lamar strong and working together to keep our hometown moving forward.”
