Colorado Parks and Wildlife will host a public meeting May 4 to provide fishery updates from Northeast Region aquatic biologists and to gather angler feedback on proposed fishing regulation changes at lakes and reservoirs across Larimer, Boulder and Adams counties.

The meeting will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Hunter Education Building at 6060 Broadway, Denver. In-person attendance is encouraged, and a virtual option will be available through Zoom.

Any proposed Chapter 1 regulation changes will be heard by the Parks and Wildlife Commission during its August meeting and will be up for a vote in November.

Proposed Chapter 1 regulation changes include:

  • Willow Bend Natural Area (Larimer County) — Catch and release for largemouth and smallmouth bass, live fish as bait prohibited, and fishing prohibited at Blackbird Pond.
  • Golden Ponds (Boulder County) — Removing special fishing regulations. All ponds would fall under general statewide regulations (five bass, no size restrictions, no lure or bait restrictions).
  • Buttonrock Reservoir (Boulder County) — Removing the two-trout bag and possession limit and removing the seasonal fishing closure.
  • Boyd Lake (Larimer County) — Reducing the bag and possession limit for walleye and saugeye to three fish and removing the 21-inch length restriction.
  • Arapahoe Bend Natural Area, Riverbend Ponds, Dixon Reservoir, Prospect Ponds and Kyger Reservoir (Larimer County) — Catch and release for largemouth and smallmouth bass.
  • Lutz Reservoir (Adams County) — Artificial flies and lures only, catch and release for largemouth and smallmouth bass, and a 10-inch minimum size for crappie.
