Colorado Parks and Wildlife recovered the body of an adult male from Eleven Mile Reservoir near Lake George on the evening of Friday, August 14, 2026, after the man fell from a paddle board he was sharing with another person.

At 3:40 p.m., Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Hartsel Fire Protection District, South Park Ambulance District, and Park County Sheriff's Office responded to a water rescue after two individuals fell off a shared paddle board. A Good Samaritan rescued one adult male and brought him to shore; the second individual remained unaccounted for.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife's Marine Evidence Recovery Team and Colorado Springs Fire Department's Dive Rescue team were deployed. After several hours of searching using sonar, the body of the missing individual was located at approximately 10:45 p.m. and recovered shortly after.

The incident remains under investigation. Alcohol and weather may have been factors. The Park County Coroner's office will release the identity and cause of death. The surviving adult male was treated on scene and released.

At least one life jacket was present but was not worn and was recovered on shore.
