A Day in the Life

By Michelle Wyckoff

Mules. Described by Google as “the sterile offspring of a female horse and a male donkey, valued as a work animal, having strong muscles, a body shaped like a horse, and donkey like long ears, small feet, and sure footedness.” Described by me as “ a fabulous pair of slip-on shoes that you can wear all day no matter how hard you shop”. Much smaller and much more comfortable than the “real thing.”

We just happen to have a mule at our place. It’s so gentle even Braedey, whose nine, can handle it. Last weekend, he and Jordan came to help me clean out the garage. We packed load after load of junk out of there, with nary a complaint from anyone or  “‘anything”. The stuff we took out of there was unbelievable. I’ve gotta hand it to them. They made up their minds to be firm, and they were. The just hate it when I cry, so they’re coming back for “fall break” to help me clean out the shed that we put it all in. It was sad enough when they took it from the house to the garage.  Baby steps……

Years ago when Dustin was little, our friends, Ron and Pat Honey, had a mule. Her name was Ramona and her baby’s name was Raisin. They were a fine pair. Our mule is somewhat easier to handle. It's a little green two seater with a souped up motor that  tops out at 10 mph. We call it “Kawasaki.”

May you be living the good life, Roger Eder!
