May 20 through May 27 is National Emergency Medical Service Week.  During this week, the Kiowa County Ambulance Service will be honoring volunteers that have stepped forward giving up quality time with their families to provide care for community members in their time of need.  The volunteers are few but dedicated and take care of the situations that come our way no matter what.  They are your everyday heroes.  You are all very much appreciated, thank-you for all you do.

During the past few years, the Kiowa County Ambulance Service has become one of the strongest agencies within the County.  Just to name a few of the accomplishments we have achieved:  We have provided education to our schools, community members and other agencies within the County.  The agency has participated in training exercises, to enhance our skills while working with other agencies.  The director has acquired grants to provide funding for much needed equipment, and updated ambulances.

Volunteers being honored during EMS week include:

Drivers: Cheri Hopkins, Karen Jones, Jack Howard, Shawn Bletzacker, Lane Stum, Kirby Stum, Tim Weeks, Weston Crow Tucker, Avery Snover, Kip Peck, Leisha Peck and Eunice Weber.

EMTs:  Dawn Watts, Cheri Hopkins, Tammy Stum, Lori Shalberg, Amy Barton, Shawn Bletzacker, Rachel Bletzacker, Teresa Witte, Andrea Morgan, Chris Stum, Elise Crockett, Jeni Weber, Lane Elliott, Weston Crow Tucker, Dianna Elliott and Eunice Weber.

We have two students in Eads that are taking the EMT class and preparing to pass the class Tristen Sheridan and Debra Jones.

If you should meet one of these volunteers on the street, please tell them how much you appreciate them. Thank-you everyone for your support of the Kiowa County Ambulance Service throughout the years.  If you are interested in joining our team of dedicated volunteers as a driver or EMT please contact:  Eunice Weber Ambulance Director at 719-438-5900 for more information. We need EMTs and Drivers.

We will be conducting an Open House to celebrated EMS Week, May 21 and 22 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Come join us to help celebrate EMS week for refreshments and place your name in the hat to win a special prize.  Hope to see you there.
