Eads Board of Trustees meeting minutes - July 10, 2023

The Regular Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Monday July 10, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall. Robin Fox took roll call:

  • Mayor – Joe D. Shields- Present
  • Trustees – Present –Dennis Pearson, Stephanie Sewell, Kathy McCracken, Tuck Liebl and Justin McLoud, Fred Derby
  • Absent – none
  • Town Clerk- Robin Fox 
  • Assistant Clerk- Mikahael McCracken
  • Director of Public Works-Van Brown
  • Town Attorney – Lance Clark – Absent

Others present; Russ Watson, Branden Dunlap, Kaden Dunlap, Jacob Kraft, Justin Lenox, Bryce Batterton, Avery Snover, Terry Riley, all with the fire department.

Minutes­- Justin McLoud moved to approve the minutes as presented. Stephanie Sewell seconded, motion passed unanimously. 

Approval of Bills – The finance committee reviewed the bills prior to the meeting. Justin McLoud moved to approve payment of the bills. Stephanie Sewell seconded, motion passed unanimously.

New Business- The board asked the family of Larry Michael to come into the meeting, for a presentation of a plaque for 25 plus years of all his services as the mayor and council member. Jodi & Darrel Stolezenberger, Bart, Aiden, and Ty Michael were all present to accept the plaque. There is also a plaque that will be displayed in the Town Hall. 

Bryan Williams and Jacob Marlow were both present to update on sheriff reports. Bryan addressed the concern of kids riding golf carts, 4-wheelers, side by sides, and small electric motorized vehicles. The board agrees we have too many kids riding all over and speeds are causing a concern. The attorney will work on an ordinance, to help the sheriff’s office control some of this. You do have to have a valid driver’s license to drive any of these items on the streets. 

Ordinance 414, camping on town property will have the first reading at the next meeting in August 7, 2023

Cindy McLoud talked about the sidewalk grant it will be finished by August. She also wanted the board to sign an agreement for Maine Street Program; she had a number of guests to help support her. They want to put in for the program, with hopes it will help in the future to get grants for Maine Street.

Russ Watson and more firefighters were here to address concern on fireworks and water usage. The fireworks were set off on the 5th instead of the 4th as they had to have a licensed guy. He will present the bill for the fireworks to be paid. Those having swimming pools filled by fire trucks will have to come into the Town Hall and pay $8.00 per thousand to have their pools filled. The town pays for the fire departments water at the fire house and the bulk water that is to be used for fire purposes. Any other water will have to be accounted for and paid for. 

Chip Seal will not be happening this year.
