East End Events
By Sharon Scott
I'm back -- It's been four weeks since I last wrote an article. No, I haven't been being lazy, just very busy and traveling. I was gone for
2 weeks to New Jersey to take care of the grandchildren while their parents were in Japan attending a Conference. Craig and Laurie's flight was 13 hours non-stop. I'm doing good to stay in a plane 4 hours. Guess I won't be doing much traveling abroad. Anyway, it was nice to get away, but nicer to be back home.
I would like to extend our communities condolences to the families of Marlin Stum; Ken Scott and Dr. Willard Werner on the loss of their loved ones over the past few weeks.
Congratulations to Sean and Misty Harkness on the newest addition to their family. Gideon was born on June 23rd.
From June 4th-11th, Susan Greenfield was on vacation with her sister Sami and husband John. They visited Mesa Verde; Black Canyon of the Gunnison and drove the Million $ Highway. They had a great time. From June 15th-20th, Susan spent time with her Dad, Norm in Sterling, CO.
Week before last, Kyle, Breeanna and I went to Lamar to the Legacy to visit with my niece Shelly (Huddleston) Minks and family from Illinois, who were there visiting with my Mom, Mary Huddleston. Shelly is my late brother Doug's oldest daughter.
Michael, Sharon, Wesley and Kristin Arns recently returned home after spending a week at Disney World in Florida. Sharon earned the trip through her Scentcy Candle business. While they were in the area, they traveled to Palm Beach to look at a college for Kristin to attend next fall.
Robert and Marilyn Hopkins; Terry Hofmeister; Christy Hopkins and Darin Groenwaller of Beloit, KS are here helping with the Hopkins wheat harvest.
Last Saturday evening, Monte and Linda Stum hosted a farewell BBQ at their home for their minister, who is leaving to be the minister at the Methodist Church in Protection, KS.
A family friend of Leo and Kathy Spechts, David from Kalamazoo, Michigan is here visiting for a few weeks.
Larry and Judy Tuttle spent the weekend with their daughter Rhonda Koehn and family of Castle Rock. They attended the "Summer in the Rockies 3 Show", where their granddaughter Emily and her horse Quintano won three 1st places in Low Children's Jumpers, making them the Grand Champions. Congratulations Emily
Merle and Carol Shalberg hosted dinner for Bill and Charlotte Woelk and Greg and Penni Shalberg and boys on Sunday.
Susan Greenfield; Benje Davis; Kyle Scott and Breeanna Scott helped run the theatre in Eads on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Jeff and Sheila Brase of Cheyenne Wells came Sunday afternoon to do some yard work for her mom, Cora Coffman.
Can you believe that next Monday we'll be celebrating the 4th of July. Hope everyone has a safe 4th.
Harvest is getting underway. The rain last night put a damper on things today, but look for it to pick up next week. Drive carefully and have a safe harvest.
Have a great week!!
