Elbert County Seeks Witnesses to I-70 Shooting
Elbert County Sheriff Shane Heap is seeking witnesses and assistance in locating suspects in a freeway shooting that took place during the early morning hours Friday.
According to the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded shortly before 1:00 a.m. to mile marker 352 on Interstate 70 just west of Limon for a reported shooting. The victim was a man from Kansas who had been traveling east when a blue, 4-door Honda pulled alongside the man’s vehicle. At least one of the two occupants of the Honda began shooting.
Deputies were able to control bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds, and the victim was transported by helicopter to a hospital.
The suspects are described as white males. The driver had curly blonde hair and was wearing a black “hoody” shirt and khaki shorts. The passenger was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants.
The suspects have not been located, and no motive is known.
