From the Extension Agent – Santa’s Workshop coming
Hello from the Kiowa County Extension Office!
I have been quite busy since I last wrote to you. After a successful 4-H Achievement Banquet Chase Stolzenberger, Katherine Trosper, Emily and Clayton Nelson and I attended Dare to Be You camp at the Colorado State Fairgrounds. This overnight camp was a great learning experience for our southeast Colorado youth. It had many workshops that helped members with leadership as well as team building skills. Chase and Emily were counselors and helped the younger members get the best from the camp.
On the way back from this trip, we stopped at the Bent County Extension Office and attended the District 6 meeting.
After that busy weekend, I packed my bags and headed to Fort Collins for New Staff Orientation.
Well, kinda.
A short mile out of town I had a tire going flat. I turned around, hoping to make it to COOP to get it fixed, but had turn off as it was completely flat by that time. So, I threw the spare on and then got the tire fixed and was off again.
Well, kinda.
I was five miles south of Kit Carson when I realized I had set my bag out to get to the tire tools. Thankfully the bag was where I left it, and I could really get on my way. That was one heck of a start to a Monday.
The orientation was a huge learning experience about all that I don’t know, and all that I will need to learn to be successful in this position. I am looking forward to all the challenges and what I can help bring to our county.
Monday, December 9, I am headed back to Fort Collins. Let’s hope I have better luck this time!
Well, the real reason for this article is that the Southeast Area Agents are having a Santa’s Workshop of holiday crafting to keep or give away for youth ages 5-18.
It will be held December 20 at the Kiowa County Community Building in Eads from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
