Colorado Governor Jared Polis has appointed Lauren T. Swan to the 11th Judicial District Court Bench. Swan’s appointment fills the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Patrick W. Murphy, and is effective January 1, 2025. 

Swan is a District Court Magistrate in the 11th Judicial District, a position she has held since 2024. Her docket consists primarily of dependency and neglect and domestic matters.

Previously, she was a Senior Deputy Public Defender (2021-2024) and Deputy Public Defender (2017-2021) at the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender in the Pueblo Office. 

Swan earned her B.A from the University of California San Diego in 2012 and her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2017.

Colorado’s 11^th Judicial District includes Chaffee, Custer, Fremont, and Park counties.
