Katharine E. Lum and Karl L. Schock appointed to the Colorado Court of Appeals

Colorado Governor Polis appointed Katharine E. Lum and Karl L. Schock to the Colorado Court of Appeals. Lum will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Michael H. Berger. The vacancy is effective October 29, 2022. Schock will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable David J. Richman. The vacancy is effective November 5, 2022.

Lum is an Attorney at Lass Moses Ramp & Cooper LLC, a position she has held since 2012. Her practice consists of family law matters. Previously, Lum was a Law Clerk for Justice Gregory J. Hobbs on the Colorado Supreme Court (2011-2012). Lum earned her B.A. from Northwestern University in 2006 and her J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law in 2011.

Schock is an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Colorado in the Appellate Division, a position he has held since 2015. His practice consists of representing the United States in criminal and civil appeals. Previously, Schock was Shareholder (2014-2015) and Associate (2007-2013) at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck; and Law Clerk for Judge Michael R. Murphy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit (2006-2007). Schock earned his B.S. from Northern Arizona University in 2003 and his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2006.
