Keefe Memorial Hospital is one step closer to upgrading its physical therapy unit after receiving a combined $10,000 in donations from the Campbell family and Goose Creek Solar Project. The contributions were made in memory of Matthew James Campbell, a cherished member of the Cheyenne County community and a participating landowner in the project.

“It is truly reassuring when respected local families like the Campbells and companies like Goose Creek Solar Project invest in our community by contributing to Keefe Memorial Hospital. These generous donations will help support the needed renovation of Keefe Memorial’s new physical therapy center,” Keefe Memorial Hospital CEO Claressa Millsap said. “The renovated physical therapy facility will dramatically improve our physical rehabilitation capabilities and expand access to care for both Cheyenne County residents and patients in the broader region.”

“Whether it was attempting a new farming technology, growing a new-to-the-area crop, or volunteering for an experimental cancer treatment, Matt wanted to be part of the latest and greatest advancements in all aspects of life. He was especially excited to learn about the possibility of using Cheyenne County land to generate solar power and he enjoyed bringing together neighboring landowners to work with Goose Creek Solar Project, Matt Campbell’s widow Brooke Campbell said. “We are so grateful for the continued support from the community, and we are honored to match Goose Creek’s donation to the physical therapy unit upgrade. Last year, Matt’s physical therapy appointments, while not local, increased his physical capabilities and gave him confidence that he could still be an active farmer. We understand the importance of physical therapy for the body as well as the mind. And we are so grateful to Goose Creek for honoring Matt in this way.”

These combined donations will be applied toward the construction and renovation of the updated physical therapy unit in Cheyenne Wells. The new physical therapy center is slated to be located in the former Bottle Barn gas station in Cheyenne Wells. It will include 2,150 square feet of space to accommodate newly renovated healthcare facilities and a dedicated team of physical therapy professionals.

“On behalf of Goose Creek Solar Project, our team is honored to support the local community in partnership with the Campbell family and Keefe Memorial Hospital, all in memory of Matt,” Goose Creek Solar Project Development Manager Jeremy Akin said. “We are excited that this donation will improve health outcomes for local residents long into the future, boosting access to needed services and exceptional care.”
