LCC Open House Set for March 2
Lamar Community College will be hosting an Open House on March 2, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00pm in the Betz Technology Center. The event will include free food and attendees will have the chance to win door prizes all night long.
LCC’s Open House will serve as a one-stop-shop for information about the college.
LCC faculty and staff will be available to answer questions from potential students and parents, from how to get started in the college application process, to applying for financial aid and scholarships, and more. Staff from all academic departments will be on-hand to answer department-specific questions and help potential students determine the best fit for them.
Campus tours will also be offered throughout the evening.
“We are excited to be hosting our annual Open House. This is a great time for students to get a head start on their college goals,” said Tori Hawks, Coordinator of Recruiting at LCC. “At the Open House, we can help student with applying for admission, scholarships, introduce them to professors, and just learning more about LCC. We hope to see a lot of new faces here that night and help everyone that walks through the doors.”
“This year we are also excited to add concurrent enrollment to the Open House line-up,” continued Hawks. “So any high school students interested in earning college credit at their own high school should stop in.”
Qualifying students at high schools within LCC’s service area can start taking concurrent enrollment courses their sophomore year. This allows the students to earn college credit while in high school, saving them money and giving them a head start on their college degrees. All area high school students interested in earning college credit through concurrent enrollment are encouraged to attend the Open House.
Academic advisors will also be available to help any students considering taking classes over the summer or those interested in taking concurrent enrollment courses next year at their local high school.
Those interested in attending LCC will find it particularly helpful, but the event is open to the community and everyone is welcome.
