I’m officially announcing my intention to seek a fourth term as Mayor of the City of Lamar, Colorado, in the upcoming November 2025 election.

As an experienced business professional, I'm dedicated to serving our community with the proven leadership to keep moving Lamar forward. I've been fully committed to Lamar and am eager to continue working towards driving our city's progress and economic growth.

My involvement in city government is extensive. I served as a Ward 1 City Council Member for 10 years—including 5 years as Mayor Pro-Tem—before being elected Mayor, a role I’ve proudly held for the past five and a half years. The City Council also appointed me as Interim City Administrator on two separate occasions, reflecting both my deep understanding of city operations and the Council’s confidence in my leadership.

Beyond public service, I’ve worked as Assistant Vice President and Information Officer at Community State Bank since 2008. In 2022, I became Managing Partner of Riverside Communications, which was a personal investment that was made to preserve and protect our historic KLMR AM/FM radio stations.

My community involvement includes serving as a board member and past president of the Lamar Chamber of Commerce, along with holding various leadership roles across numerous boards, committees, and organizations over the past 30 years.

As Mayor and Council Member, I’ve demonstrated steady leadership through critical challenges—including the ARPA lawsuit, the COVID-19 pandemic, Marijuana Ballot Initiatives, and the significant loss of key city staff.

I value our City Employees and, alongside the City Council, have worked to ensure fair wages, quality benefits, cost-of-living increases, and a supportive work environment through salary surveys and regular staff engagement.

I’ve remained focused on economic development and community projects such as the Maggie Stanley Dog Park, improvements to Escondido and North Gateway Parks, and the launch of our new Comprehensive Plan. Despite various setbacks and delays, we have also welcomed new developments like Cobblestone, Scooters, and Arby’s.

Looking ahead, my priorities are clear. Hiring a capable City Administrator and Police Chief is a critical next step. We’re also preparing major infrastructure projects—like a new floating dock and archery range at North Gateway Park, a modern Wastewater Treatment Plant, and a new Public Safety Building to name a few.

My ultimate goal is for Lamar to grow—geographically and economically—with more housing, jobs, and opportunities for us all. That is why I believe it’s vital to keep investing in our city and its future.

We’ve accomplished a great deal over the past five and a half years—but there’s still so much more to do. I’m asking for your support and your vote, so that together, we can continue building a stronger, more vibrant Lamar.  Let’s keep moving forward Lamar!

Sincerely,

Kirk Crespin
