Got Medicare? Got Questions?  Just in time for Medicare Open Enrollment, Medicare 101 is coming to Southeast Colorado.  The State Health Insurance Assistance Program will present three programs in our area October 17 and 18.  On Monday October 17, SHIP will present Medicare 101 at the Woodruff Memorial Library, 522 Colorado Avenue in La Junta at 1 p.m.  Tuesday, October 18, see the program at the Lamar Senior Center, 407 E Olive Street in Lamar at 9:30 a.m., or at the Las Animas Public Library, 306 Fifth Street at 1:30 p.m.  At each location, individual counseling will be available after the one hour overview of Medicare.

Medicare 101 will be helpful to everyone eligible for Medicare in 2017 as well as those who are already enrolled.  The program will help persons decide which of several plans are best for them.  Presenters will also discuss “Extra Help” programs that help with out-of-pocket Medicare expenses like co-pays, deductibles and premiums.

Call 719-557-3188 to RSVP for any of the three programs.  When you RSVP, you’ll be given the opportunity to be put on the list for individual counseling and told information to bring to get the most out of the individual counseling.

Local sponsors are Colorado State University Extension Southeast Area, Lamar Senior Center, Las Animas/Bent County Public Library, TriCounty Housing/Community Development Corporation and Woodruff Memorial Library.  SHIP is a grant-funded project of the federal U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) and provide in-depth, and objective insurance counseling and assistance.
