Gwendolyn Pearl (Crozier) Jagers

June 19, 1934 – August 18, 2020

Gwendolyn Pearl (Crozier) Jagers was born June 19, 1934, at home near Sioux Lookout, Nebraska. She was the first child of Jesse and Faye Crozier.  A year later, her sister, Arlene, joined the family. In 1939 another sister, Betty, was born, and in 1946 her baby brother, Marvin, completed their family.

Gwen, along with her two sisters, attended a one room schoolhouse. When Gwen began seventh grade, she moved to a four-room schoolhouse called Haig School. This school was near Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She then rode the bus to high school in Scottsbluff and graduated in 1952.

After high school she attended the RLDS Sanitarium and Hospital in Independence, Missouri, to work on a nursing degree.

The summer after her high school graduation,n her mom took Gwen and her siblings to church camp near Palmer Lake. It was here where Gwen met the love of her life, Tom Jagers, and married him one year later, on August 22, 1953, at the same church campgrounds.  After their wedding, they made their home just outside of Wiley.

To this union their first-born son, Rodney Thomas, was born July 31, 1954. One year later, on August 18, 1955, Debra Faye joined the family. May 23, 1958, Shana Gail was born, and March 1, 1962, Ed Dean completed this family of six.

Gwen was a farmer’s wife and loved her life with Tom. Later in their marriage, they owned and operated an alfalfa business. She was a longtime member of the Wiley Rosette club. Gwen ran an efficient office and home. She loved to sew, making most of her kids’ clothes until they were older. She loved to work in her yard and, oh, how she loved to paint. Not pictures, buildings. She, along with whatever kid was available, changed the color of EVERY building every few years. Gwen was a 4-H leader and helped many members with their sewing projects. Gwen was a lifelong member of the RLDS Church.

All four of her children were raised on the farm one mile south of Wiley.

In 2001, Tom and Gwen moved to Campo. Gwen lost her beloved Tom March 5, 2004, to a hard-fought battle with leukemia. Gwen departed from this earth August 18, 2020, after a long difficult fight with dementia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; one sister, Arlene; and one son-in-law, Darrel Wait.

She has left behind one sister, Betty Bryant, and brother-in-law, George; brother, Marvin Crozier, and sister-in-law, Laura;  children, Rod Jagers and wife, Karen, Deb Morris, and husband, Bill, Shana Bursch, and husband, Royce, and Dean Jagers and wife, Christi; nine grandchildren, Lance Jagers, Jamie Bogner, Lindsay Walker, Casey Jagers, Kyle Wait, Jana Slaughter, Trey Jagers, Preston Wait, and Jill Morris; and 13 - soon to be 14 - great-grandchildren.

Gwen, above all, was God’s child, a devoted and loving wife, and adored mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all.
