Obituary - Dana Ray Barnes

Dana Ray Barnes died at his Cheyenne Wells home September 3, 2024. He was born January 22, 1958, in Fort Madison, Iowa, to the late Beverly Ann Barnes (Wolfskill) and Paul L. Barnes.
In 1969, his father’s work relocated the family to La Junta, where he completed his primary education. Upon graduation, Dana entered the oil industry working on oil wells. His career took him to several states including Washington, Kansas, Texas, as well as Colorado.
In the early 90s, his work brought him to Cheyenne Wells, where he met his late wife, Frances (Franny) Barnes. Cheyenne Wells remained their home until death.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Paula Ayers (Gene); brother, Greg Barnes; and nephew, Joey Hartley.
Surviving family members include his son, Matthew Barnes (Ashley Wheeler) of Colorado; brother, Mark Barnes (Valeri) of Arizona; sister, Cheryl Stevens (Mike) of Tennessee; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. September 28, 2024, at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Cheyenne Wells. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Fairview cemetery in Cheyenne Wells.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
