David Norris Harrison
(December 17, 1941 - July 19, 2017)
David Norris (Dave) Harrison passed away on July 19, 2017, in Wichita, KS, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Dave was born in Clovis, NM, on December 17, 1941, to David A. and Beulah Norris Harrison. He moved to Eads in 1954 from Quanah, Texas. In 1960 he graduated from Eads High School and received his college education at Colorado School of Mines in Golden. Dave graduated from Mines in 1964 with a degree in Petroleum Refining Engineering.
Dave married Diann Scroggins, his high school sweetheart, on June 24, 1962, at the First Christian Church in Eads. They just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. After graduating from Mines, Dave began his engineering career in Texas. He was employed by various chemical companies: Phillips Petroleum, Celanese and Vulcan Chemicals. Throughout his career, he and Diann lived in Borger, Pampa, and Corpus Christi, TX, Baton Rouge, LA and Wichita, KS.
Dave retired from Vulcan Chemicals in 2000. After retirement, he enjoyed various hobbies and activities - woodworking, car restoration and hiking. He would say his greatest accomplishment was hiking the Colorado Trail, a trail that stretches from Denver to Durango. He hiked some sections of the trail more than once. Dave enjoyed the Class of 1960 reunions, the All School Reunions and reminiscing about high school days in Eads. He fondly remembered many friends and classmates.
He is survived by his wife, Diann (Wichita, KS), his son, Scott (Wichita) and son, Keith and wife, Marya (Pittsburgh, PA), grandchildren: Jared Harrison, and Tyler Harrison, (Wichita), Shae Harrison and Lauren Harrison (Pittsburg, PA). He is also survived by his sister, Betty Jones and husband, Loy, (Colorado Springs, CO) and sister, Nina Barrett (Georgetown, TX), nieces and nephews, Lisa Jones, (Steamboat Springs, CO), Dana Barrett Morgan, (Austin, TX), Craig Jones, (Santa Cruz, CA), and Ross Barrett, (Durango, CO), and sister-in-law, Leann Scroggins, (Wichita, KS).
