Dorothy Marie Ardrey

February 21, 1943 - March 25, 2021

March 25, 2021, Dorothy Marie Ardrey, loving wife and mother of three children, earned her angel wings at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with colon cancer, in Pueblo.

Dorothy was born February 21, 1943, to Clyve and Helen Foulke; sister of Harvey Horton, George Foulke, and Barbara Engelbrecht; and granddaughter of August and Ila Kern and William and Lottie Foulke.

She married Fred Ardrey December 25, 1959, at the Ardrey homestead in Cheyenne Wells.  They were blessed with three children, Sonya in 1960, Fred Jr. in 1962, and John in 1969.  She was a devoted Christian, wife, mom and grandma.

Dorothy had a passion for coin collecting.  She worked hard saving and planning for each new proof set she bought.  She had many collections in her lifetime, but nothing made her happier and prouder than her coin collection.  She also loved and had a deep passion for working beside her husband in many business adventures.  She loved keeping a smooth-running business and home while Fred built the business outside the home.  The worked hard, but took time to enjoy life and their family, too.  There was never a time Dorothy didn’t have coffee and three hot meals on the table for her family, employees, and anyone who dropped by.  She’d always say “Can I get you something to eat? How about a cup of coffee?” She was an amazing cook and loved having a full table.

Dorothy was known for her love of God.  She would tell about how God loved her and was always there for her throughout her life.  Her greatest passion in the last few years was talking to others about God and what He could do for them if they’d open their hearts to the Lord.

She was also known for her unselfish giving, putting others needs before her own, and her kind and compassionate spirit.  She was an amazing wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Sonya (Steve) Beechley of Burlington, Fred Ardrey Jr. of Rockvale and John Ardrey of Rockvale;  brother, George (Ibolya) Foulke of Denver; sister, Barbara Engelbrecht of Cheyenne Wells; sister-in-law Alice (Norman) Akers of Cheyenne Wells, brother-in-law, Leonard Drumm Sr. of Garden City, Kansas; grandchildren, Nichol (Bruce) Weiss of Burlington, Kristina Beechley of Flagler, Mike (Amber) Beechley of Aurora, Dillon Ardrey of Canon City, Savannah Ardrey of Rockvale and Shania Ardrey of Rockvale.  She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a very close and special friend, Andy Jackson, of Florence, a host of friends, and her dog, Jake, who was very special to her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
