Gene Claire Lynn, son of James T. and Clara S. Lynn, was born December 18, 1928, at the family homestead southwest of Eads in Kiowa County, Colorado, and departed this life July 15, 2025, at Southeast Colorado Cottages at the age of 96.

Gene attended school in Eads.

He met Charlotte (Ritchie) Lynn in Eads. They were united in marriage August 28, 1955. Out of that union they were blessed with four children, Kathy, Rita, Don, and Judi.

Gene was inducted into the Military April 30, 1951, and discharged to the Army Reserves March 18, 1953. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Corporal in 1953.

Gene was employed by the Colorado Department of Transportation in Springfield from 1955 until his retirement in 1988.

Gene’s wife and children spent many vacations camping and fishing at Mirror and Taylor Lake. In later years, Gene and Charlotte would load their children up in camper and spend time at John Martin Reservoir with family.

Gene spent countless hours supporting his children and grandchildren extracurricular activities. His children could always count on him to be there.

Preceding him death were his parents, James and Clara Lynn; wife, Charlotte Lynn; daughter, Kathy Shade; grandson, William Trent Ownbey; infant brother and sister, Jamie and Audie; sisters, Corenne Brennan, Minnie Bell Inklebarger, Ellen Simmons, and Melva King; and brothers, Terry Lynn, James Lynn, and Bryon Lynn.

Gene lived a long prosperous life until the age of 96, leaving behind a family that he was very proud of and loved deeply. Rest in peace Dad and Poppie.
