Judith Anne Gray Benson was born in Eads, May 24, 1947, and left this life February 27, 2025, at age 77 with her family at her bedside after a short illness. She was the eldest of five daughters born to Georgena (Hollister) and Benjamin “Ben” Gray.

Judy graduated from Eads High School Class of 1965 and received an associate’s degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango.

Judy married William “Bill” Benson in January 1969 and followed him throughout his military career. Their son William “Todd” was born while Bill was stationed in Germany. After returning to Colorado, their union was blessed by a daughter Gina Lynn.

After relocating to several towns in Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma, Judy and Bill moved to Del City, Oklahoma, where she lived at the time of her passing. She had a fulfilling and successful career at United Petroleum Transports until she retired. After retirement she did not slow down. Instead, she began traveling to experience the natural beauty of America and revisiting places where she had previously lived.

While at home, Judy enjoyed the company of her dogs, her cat, and visiting family. Any person entering their home would be greeted with a smile and a warm hug. Judy loved to play Sudoku to keep her mind active. You would often see books with incomplete puzzles and when asked what happened she would always say she just needed a break with a smile on her face.

What she treasured the most was her relationship with God. Judy loved to watch her Sunday morning TV services and listen to her talk radio. Judy always had faith that God would see her through all things.

Proceeding her in death were her parents, Ben and Georgena Gray; son, Todd; and grandson, Tyler.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Gina (John) Goss; grandsons, Tanner (Montana) Lankford, Travis (Chelsea) Lankford, Sara (Johnathan) Baustert and Emma Lynn Goss; great grandchildren, (Tanner) son Tripp and daughter Camryn; (Travis) daughter Jamie and son Jackson; (Sara) expecting son Archer to arrive in mid-April. She is survived by Todd’s (Lisa) family, grandson Cody (Maleah) Benson, great grandchildren, Leonydous Lloren, Theodore Benson, and Katherina Benson; granddaughter Kristen and great granddaughters, Sephora Rayne Platt, Arabella Grace Platt and Shiloh Bren Platt. Her surviving sisters are Kathy (Merle) Guddendorf, Bonnie Gray Nicolarsen, Betsy (Al) Ehrlick and Bennie “Sue” Gray. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who feel her loss.

Judy always found the good in everyone. She will be remembered for generations to come.

Donations can be made in Judy’s memory to Alzheimer’s research (alz.org) or a nonprofit of your choice.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.
