Obituary - Kenneth W. Robertson

Kenneth W. Robertson

September 30, 1939 – April 18, 2017

Kenneth W. Robertson passed away April 18, 2017, in Scottsdale, Arizona following a 10-year battle with COPD.

Born September 30, 1939, in Ordway, Colorado, to the late, Beverly and Ula (Rush) Robertson.  He spent his childhood years on the family ranch north of Arlington, CO.  He attended schools in Arlington and Ordway.

He married Kathy Bates in 1968 in Pueblo, Colorado, and they moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona, in 1976 where he worked in automotive and a tactical and strategic Army vehicle repair.  He was essentially self-taught mechanic and often spoke of the mentoring he received from his friend Walt Chapman in Ordway. His ability to diagnose and fix a problem made him the “go-to” guy in any auto shop where he worked.

After retiring in 2001, he and Kathy traveled in their motor home visiting relatives and sight-seeing. They moved to Scottsdale, in 2009 to be near their son, Andrew.

Kenny was a real family man and always put them first in his thoughts and was always willing to help in any way he could.  He designed, built, and installed a safe and effective wheelchair lift for the motor home that enabled them to travel many places.

He is survived by his wife Kathy of the family home, son Andrew of Phoenix, Arizona; his sisters Carol (Darrell) Wilson of Salina, Kansas, and Janice (Marvin) Burroughs of Strasburg, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Alberta (Bud) Robertson of Basin, Wyoming, and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bud Robertson in Medicine Bow, Wyoming.

Graveside services will be held on 6 May 2017 at the Lakeview Cemetery in Sugar City, Colorado at 11:00 a.m., with lunch following at the Sugar City Community Center.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the charity of their choice.

The family can be contacted by email to Mrs. Kathy Robertson at k-r-2@cox.net or Andy Robertson at a-r-@cox.net.
