Larry Curtis Wilms, 55, of Cheyenne Wells, passed away April 12, 2026, in the town he called home.
Born November 15, 1970, in Cheyenne Wells, Larry was raised with strong ties to his community and the values of hard work and family. He graduated from Dighton High School in Kansas in 1989, and went on to dedicate his life to farming and working with cattle, a path that reflected his deep connection to the land.
Larry found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and never passed up the chance to share a good story about his time outside. He was skilled with firearms, and had a natural talent for mechanical work. Whether fixing engines or helping someone in need, Larry was always willing to lend a hand. He took pride in passing his mechanical knowledge and problem-solving skills on to his sons.
Known for his humor and storytelling, Larry had a way of drawing people in. His voice, expressions, and presence left a lasting impression. He loved to joke, tease, and make others laugh. More than anything, he was loyal and supportive - always standing by those he cared about. His love for his family ran deep, and his grandchildren held a truly special place in his heart.
Larry is survived by his children, Chelsea, Roo, and Nick (Zeb) Wilms; grandchildren, Thea and Jasper; and siblings, Connie (Wayne) Faulconer, Melvin Wilms, and Kenny Wilms. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin “Jimmie” Wilms and Margaret Patten; and his baby brother, Paul Dean.
Larry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
“Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.” - 2 Thessalonians 2:16–17
