The Colorado Bureau of Investigation announced Wednesday, the arrest of Dustin Dwayne Martin, 37, a Springfield Police Department officer, on charges of internet luring of a child stemming from an online solicitation investigation.

The CBI was requested August 19, 2026, to assist the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida, in an ongoing investigation. The Orange County Sheriff's Office Sex Crimes Unit had been operating an undercover Snapchat account aimed at identifying individuals involved in the online solicitation of underage minors.

The investigation determined that Martin communicated through Snapchat with an individual he believed to be a minor for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity.

Martin has been charged with internet luring of a child in violation of C.R.S. 18-3-306, a class 5 felony. Following the arrest, the Springfield Police Department placed Martin on unpaid administrative leave pending further proceedings.

The CBI thanked the Springfield Police Department and the Baca County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with the investigation.

Charges are merely accusations; all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
