Obituary - Marlene Sue Ellis
Marlene S. Ellis passed away peacefully February 8, 2024, surrounded by her family at the age of 74.
Marlene was born in Las Animas, January 17, 1950. She was one of five children of Zula and Aburey Howe.
Marlene married Stephen Ellis and enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Partners in life, they share three children: Cynthia, Suzanne, and Jeffrey.
She was an amazing mother to her three kids, and a doting grandmother to her four grandchildren.
Professionally, she was a business partner with Stephen at Intermountain Appraisal Services, where she worked as a real estate appraiser for 20+ years.
Marlene volunteered her time to Sertoma International, which helps individuals that are hearing impaired.
Marlene’s true passion was cooking, as well as playing games like Yahtzee. She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning, and feeding those that she loved. Marlene’s earthy sense of humor made every dinner party she hosted a fun and side-splitting event.
She leaves her family with many fun memories and “one-liners” that will last for generations to come. Marlene was willful and determined; she survived polio and scarlet fever as a child, and fought cancer with admirable courage.
Marlene is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and numerous family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Jeffco Sertoma.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held March 9 at her home from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All who knew her and wish to share their funny stories and eat her favorite foods are welcome. The Yatzee table will be available to play!
Arrangement are under the direction of Aspen Mortuaries.
