Obituary - Melodie Ann Richardson

Melodie Ann Richardson, a longtime resident of Lamar, passed away peacefully with her family by her side March 30, 2026. She was born September 18, 1959, to Jim and Lorene Richardson.
She attended kindergarten and first grade in Eads and then went to Melvin School in Lamar until the age of 18. At that time, she transitioned into the day and residential program at Southeastern Developmental Services. She resided there for over 40 years until the day of her passing.
Melodie was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lorene Richardson; brothers, Melvin Richardson (Gloria Sydney), and Marvin Richardson (Pattie); and sister, Luella Richardson.
She is survived by twin sisters, Karilyn Richardson and Marilyn Roy (John) of Colorado Springs, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as great great nieces and nephews.
Melodie had a good and happy life. She was involved in Special Olympics, participating in gymnastics. She enjoyed bowling, coloring, arts and crafts, and boardgames like Yahtzee and Farkle. She loved food - especially hamburgers, French fries, and pancakes. Melodie loved to fish, and she took many trips with her family to Nashville, South Padre Island, Disneyland, and Rockies games. Melodie will be truly missed, and is now one of God’s special angels!
Melodie’s family would like to extend a thank you and our immense gratitude to SDS for their care and support throughout the years. Also, a special thank you to the ladies at Lamar Hospice for their care and support for Melodie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southeastern Developmental Services and Lamar Hospice in Lamar.
Funeral services will be held April 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Eads. Burial will follow in the Eads Cemetery.
