Obituary - Pamela Jane (Ross) Carroll
Pam was born May 7, 1948, the second child born to Robert (Bob) and Wanda (Hull) Ross. She had six siblings, Vicki, Candy, Bobby, David, Bill, and John.
Her father ran the Ross Super grocery store in Cheyenne Wells, and her mother was a homemaker. She spent a lot of time with her Great Grandma Ross and Great Aunt Sybil growing up. The Ross family was a tight knit family, spending time together, recreating, and going on annual summer road trips.
Pam lived in the Cheyenne Wells area most of her life. She graduated high school in 1966, and attended cosmetology school in 1967 in Denver where she shared an apartment with her sister, Vicki. There, this duo enjoyed many crazy adventures in the big city!
Pam worked for a salon in Cheyenne Wells for a short time. Then she married her high school sweetheart, Mike Carroll, December 2, 1967, with her sisters being her maid of honor and bridesmaids. They had two children, Julie in 1969, and Doug in 1971.
Her life changed from living in town to living on a farm in the country 18 miles northwest of Cheyenne Wells. She thrived in the hard and dirty farmer’s life and being a wife while raising Julie and Doug. Pam became a grain truck driver, combine operator, and a jack of all trades on the family farm.
Later in life, after the kids were grown and on their own, Pam started her own business selling Avon for 20 plus years. She excelled at this business by providing products to a multitude of customers while building strong relationships with them and their pets. She received many prestigious "Mrs. Albee Sales Awards" over the years from Avon.
Additionally, Pam had a love for animals, domestic and wild - except for snakes! She always had a pet dog, and many outdoor kitties. She even loved racoons, and took in some orphan babies many years ago, caring for them until they were ready to be returned to the wild.
Finally, Pam loved her family with all her heart. She enjoyed getting to see her grandchildren, and meeting her great granddaughters. She enjoyed visiting with all her friends, family, and neighbors, but there just wasn’t enough time.
Pam developed several medical conditions over the years that eventually took her life. It was time for her to go home with Jesus, and she passed away in a hospital in the Denver area January 24, 2025.
She is survived by her husband, Mike of 57 years; son, Doug (wife, Nicole); daughter, Julie; brothers, David (wife, Giz) and John (wife, Junko); sister, Candy; grandchildren, Dylan (wife, Amanda) and Michaela; great granddaughters, Sydney and Hallie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vicki; and brothers, Bill and Bobby.
Pam will be greatly missed by the Cheyenne Wells and Burlington communities and all her family. She was a charismatic lady, and loved by those who knew her!
