Philip Roger Hollis, 84, of Fruita passed away July 4, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Phil spent his childhood in Eads, where he graduated from Eads High School. He then enlisted in the Air Force right after graduation, and served our country for 4 years, being honorably discharged in 1963.

Phil returned to Eads where he met his first wife Dolores E. Kempt and together, they had three wonderful children, Grant, Stacy, and Dawn Rae.

While in Eads, Phil helped install the first telephone wires to the town. This led to Phil’s future career in telecommunications, paving the way for 60 years as a Telecommunication Technician, which led him to live in the towns of Flagler, Paonia, Eagle, and Fruita.

Phil met the love of his life, Phyllis (Jean) Robision, in Eagle. They were married November 21, 1981, and Phil welcomed Jean’s daughter, Julie Robison, as his own.

Together they enjoyed jeeping, camping, and riding his Honda Goldwing motorcycle. When Phil was not spending time enjoying beautiful Colorado, he was in his garage fixing everything.

Phil is preceded in death by his mother, Clara Hollis; father, Harvey Hollis; and              brother-in-law, Maynard Warne.

Phil is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Jean) Hollis of Fruita; sons, Grant Hollis (Jessica Hollis) and Stacy Hollis of Eagle; daughters, Dawn Rae Martin (Lewis Martin) and Julie Robinson-Mamo of Fruita; sister, Joyce Warne of Eads; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A Military Honors Ceremony will be held August 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway, in Grand Junction. A celebration of life luncheon will be held after the service at 1453 Gemini Circle in Fruita.

Services are under the direction of Martin Mortuary.
