Randy Wayne Morris of Lamar passed away March 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy built on quiet strength, steadfast devotion, and a dry wit that could make anyone smile when they least expected it.
He was a man of few words, but the ones he chose, and the laughs he drew out of the people he loved, meant everything.
He was born July 12, 1963, in Fort Morgan to William “Bill” Boyd Morris and Veda June (Doane) Morris.
Randy's world revolved around his family. He was a proud father to his son, Chase Morris, and daughter, Kylee Morris, and a father figure to Koy Silvey, whom he embraced as his own. Watching Chase and his wife, Courtney, welcome little Ryland into the world gave Randy a brand-new title, Grandpa, and it was one he wore with more pride than any other. Kylee and her fiancé, Devan Mapp brought him equal joy, and he cherished the family that continued to grow around him.
Randy graduated from Columbine High School in 1981. After graduation, he began a career with US West, where he was a dedicated employee for over a decade.
In 1990, he met Tara Crow, and the two married in 1992. They welcomed the birth of son Chase in 1993, daughter Shawn 1995, and daughter Kylee in 1996.
In 1995, Randy and Tara moved to Lamar, where they purchased their family home, which doubled as their photography studio, Morris Manor Photography. In January of 1996, Randy found his true professional calling when he joined the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office.
For 30 years, Randy gave of himself to the people of Prowers County through a distinguished career with the Sheriff's Office, rising to the rank of Captain overseeing jail operations. He was a man his colleagues could count on, and his community could trust; steady, dependable, and always doing the job the right way. That kind of service doesn't go unnoticed, and it will not be forgotten.
Randy Morris was the kind of man who didn't need to fill a room with noise to fill it with warmth. His quiet presence, unexpected humor, and his deep love for his family are the things those who knew him will carry forward. He will be profoundly missed and always celebrated.
Randy is survived by his children, Chase (Courtney) Morris and Kylee Morris (fiancé Devan Mapp); grandson, Ryland; bonus son, Koy Silvey; siblings, David Morris, Janet Regan, and Danny (Jenny) Morris; former wife and mother of his children, Tara Silvey; former mother-in-law, Sandra Crow; and extended family, Madison Morris and Dylan Morris; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Morris; mother, Veda (Doane) Morris; infant daughter, Shawn Morris; and brother-in-law, John Regan.
A Celebration of Life for Randy Morris will be held at the Lamar Christian Church April 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ian Blacker officiating. A gathering will follow at the Lamar Eagles.
