The Otero County Extension Office is offering a free basic quilting workshop, which includes an opportunity to create lap fidget quilts to be giving to dementia and Alzheimer’s patients.

The workshop will be held June 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 411 North 10thStreet in Rocky Ford. While the workshop is free, registration is required.

Those participating will receive hands-on instruction in quilting, and will need to bring a sewing machine, sewing supplies, fabric, threat and a sack lunch. Batting and fidgets will be provided, along with beverages and dessert.

Lap quilts may be entered in the Arkansas Valley Fair and can be donated to a dementia or Alzheimer’s patient.

Instructors for the workshop include Pebble Pearl, Linda Fenter and Debbie Chapman.
