- USDA Update- Rod Johnson: April rains don’t get much better than last week. I’ve heard from 0.40 to over one inch county wide.
- Plainview second grade student Kaylee Wilson won the Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge in Lamar. This qualified her for the Skills Challenge in Pueblo in which she place second and a silver metal.
25 Years Ago - April 16, 1999
- Gary Woodward presented the Eads Board of Trustees the 1998 financial audit that concluded the town was in good financial condition.
- The Eads Board of Trustees voted to close the “baby pool” at the municipal swimming pool because it is a health hazard.
40 Years Ago - April 20, 1984
- Roger Saffer of Flagler recently purchased Riggins Spraying Service. Saffer is a native of Flagler and worked with his brother for the past five years.
50 Years Ago - April 19, 1974
- The state had negotiated a 99 year lease with the Anshutz Corp. for a recreation easement on the west side of Lake Nee Noshe in Kiowa County.
- The Southeast Colorado Power Association filed with Public Utilities Commission a proposed rate hike for about nine percent.
- Kiowa County showed a 45.2 percent, and Eads 44.1 percent increase, in sales over amounts the previous year.
75 Years Ago - April, 1949
- Brandon: Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Morris have wired their house and filling station and are now enjoying the benefits of electricity.
100 Years Ago - April, 1924
- Part of the Eads baseball team went to Galatea and returned with their scalp by a score of 12 to 10.
- Sunday turkey dinner at Strahan’s Café – 50 cents.
