- USDA Update- Rod Johnson: The winter wheat crop county wide is still looking good and with a little moisture to help grain fill, we have prospects for a good crop.
- A high of 97 was recorded May 19 with a low of 37 May 13.
- The Colorado Division of Wildlife and Colorado State Parks have jointly purchased 3,000 acre-feet of water from the City of Colorado Springs to add to the permanent water storage at John Martin Reservoir.

- Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: We got some of the creek gaps fixed, so our cows should stay where they belong. I got to wear cutoff jeans. I’m sure my legs wouldn’t win any prizes.

- Eads Auto, which open April 5, is holding its Grand Opening Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
- Distribution of cheese to needy people and seniors citizens will be held at the regular distribution points.
- Mrs. Eleanor Jones of Kit Carson was in “utter shock” when she had a $50,000 winning ticket in the Colorado Lottery.

- Betty Kelley was the only one to receive an 1 rating for piano at the Burlington Music Festival contest. She competed against 33 other contestants.
100 Years Ago - 1924
- The town board has notified chicken raisers that it is strictly against the town ordinance to allow chickens and any stock of any kind to roam at large.
- The Willing Workers each year earn $1 to put in the treasury. At the meeting they tell how they earned the money such as wash husband’s feet, blacked shoes or shorten pants. The lady that shorten the pants hasn’t been paid yet.
- Rules and Regulations Governing Teachers was adopted by the school: The teacher shall not dance nor attend dances in the community or elsewhere while in the employ of the district.
