  • USDA Update- Rod Johnson: Hail in the central portion of the county leveled a lot of crop stubble, but overall, the moisture received should outweigh any damage.
  • About Town- Doris Lessenden: The talk has certainly been the big devastating hailstorm. There were piles of hail like snow standing.

  • A Colorado Kansas & Pacific Railway train came as far as Eads Tuesday. The return of freight rail service is expected in June.
  • USDA Update- Rod Johnson: After an aerial photo session and groundwork, we have established losses in the Arlington fire. Total acreage burned is 12,106.8 acres, which includes 3,030.9 rangeland,4,734.9 Conservation Reserve Program grass,4,098.3 1999 wheat stubble, and 242.7 1999 millet stubble
  • Kiowa County Growers Inc. have reached a joint venture agreement with Agro Management Group to manufacture and sell sunflower-based lubricants.

  • A reminder to set your clocks ahead one hour on April 28.
  • Notice from Town of Eads: We are presently rehabilitating the water storage tower. Due to the large expense involved, there will no longer be allowed any vandalism to the outside of this tower as in the past.

50 Years Ago - April 25, 1975

  • Is it spring or winter was the question many residents were asking after the snowstorm Friday. By Saturday little remained of the previous day snow and the temperature rose to 63.
    • At the State Convention of Colorado Flying Farmers, Rodney Blankenbaker, Kit Carson, was elected President, Raymond Sneller, Wiley, Second Vice President, and Burl Sherler, Sheridan Lake, director.
