• Good attendance of buyers, and a quality offering of livestock, made a successful sale for Kiowa County’s 4-H and FFA members. Down slightly from last year, $44,304 compared to a year ago $ 45,945.

40 Years Ago - September 20, 1985

• Kiowa County Farm Bureau, in conjunction with the Kiowa County Fair, held a pig kissing contest. Donald Oswald collected the most money and had the honor of kissing the live pig.
• Weisbrod opened a small medical clinic in Wiley.

50 Years Ago - September 19, 1975

• Cardon Berry of Eads made the best time in calf roping at the Kiowa County Fair to win first place.

100 Years Ago - 1925

• The first Ford was in Eads last Saturday and was given the once over by the flivver enthusiast.
