- This year marks the Centennial year of the Colorado 4-H program, and the Colorado State Fair played host for this 100th successful year.
25 Years Ago - September 8, 2000
- The Colorado Department of Transportation started work to resurface Highway 96 from the Colorado-Kansas state line west for 10 miles. The highway is being paved in asphalt and drainage improvements made.
40 Years Ago - September 6, 1985
- According to Librarians Doris Forsyth and Ruth Wissel, the first Kiowa County Fair was held September 6-7, 1915, Labor Day, on Maine Street in downtown Eads.
- Bunny’s number 5 opened in Eads in the former TJ’s Super “C.”
50 Years Ago - September 5, 1975
- A new addition to the 1975 Kiowa County Fair and Rodeo will be a historical pageant of the county’s history since its settlement in the 1880s.
75 Years Ago - 1950
- New feature at the Kiowa County Free Fair and Rodeo will be a parade Saturday morning.
- Visitors to the Wiley Sugar Beet Days reported a fine time, but the widely advertised bull fight failed to materialize. The bull would not fight.
