- The First National Bank of Las Animas elected Roger Saffer to its’ Board of Directors.

- Kiowa County School Board RE-1 voted to approve bid for installation of carpet and tile the new high school addition and vetoed a request for home schooling.
40 Years Ago - January 31, 1986
- Philomene Liesen, a well-known music educator in southeast Colorado and Wiley’s School music instructor, is to be inducted into Colorado Music Educators’ Hall of Fame.
- Nineteen Plainview students participated in the Business Olympics at Lamar and received the first place trophy
50 Years Ago - January 30, 1976
- Greenwood’s Texaco Station on highway 287 & 96 was broken into and $250 of merchandise is missing.
- The Eads Consumer Supply Company is about $30,000 short of its goal of securing $150,000 in Certificates of indebtedness necessary to purchase Haswell’s elevators.
100 Years Ago - 1926
- A box social will be held at the Towner School Auditorium. Ladies, please bring boxes. Men bring your wallets. In addition, two reels of moving pictures will be shown.
