• Megan Fickenscher is the International 4-H Youth Exchange representative for Colorado. She will be living and working with seven host families for three weeks at a time in Switzerland.

• Helicopters were being used to airlift feed bales to cattle. More than 2,000 head of cattle in Kiowa County alone died in last week’s blizzard.

• From the Sheriff’s Desk- Floyd Griswould: Two farm thefts in the past two weeks have us looking as far away as Walsenburg for suspects. Also, two toolboxes full of tools were stolen from a tractor of Jake Boehs. We are looking at local boys for this theft.

• Eastern Colorado was in the hard-hit middle of the storm that dumped 34 inches of snow in the mountains and fringe areas.  Eads reported nearly six inches, Lamar 8.4, and Lincoln County reported 15 to 18 inches
